Like the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/M%C3%B6bius_strip\">Moebius strip<\/a>&#8221; you may have explored as a kid in math class, this scarf has one (1) side and one (1) edge!<\/p>\n<p>Although I am a competent knitter and married to a mathematician, I did not invent this fun project. Cat Bordhi reveals the secrets of topological knitting in her book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Treasury-Magical-Knitting-Cat-Bordhi\/dp\/0970886977\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1241396647&#038;sr=1-1\">A Treasury of Magical Knitting<\/a>. This book is so popular at the library that I had to wait a long time to get it, but the special cast-on method is central (literally) to the success of knitting a moebius so I dropped everything and made one this month.<\/p>\n<p>I used a slinky bamboo\/wool yarn for a nice drape. I planned it to be just long enough to wrap around twice, and so far that&#8217;s my favorite way to wear it.
