They are vegans. Why did the school district give them a 5-lb bag of shredded cheese as part of the meals-from-school program? Even if they had 5 kids and ate dairy products for every meal I think 5 pounds would still be excessive for the week of Spring Break. I&#8217;ve tried to puzzle it out but it might remain a mystery. My best guess is that there was a typo where &#8220;0.5 lb&#8221; turned into &#8220;5 lb.&#8221; (I hope dozens of other families didn&#8217;t also get the same delivery&#8230; I think that would result in a lot of wasted food.) We love cheese and now we have enough to last for quite awhile. I froze a bunch of 2-cup portions and we have been eating cheese-centric meals more often. I pulled out an old favorite of mine since childhood, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sparkledesign.net\/fidget\/2010\/03\/30\/tamale-pie\/\">Tamale Pie.<\/a> It&#8217;s a perfect candidate to cook in the cast-iron skillet!
